Adventures in Kenmore - A Hidden Gem

April 28, 2019

We’re just home from spending a couple of days at the hidden, yet popular resort of Taymouth Marina, Kenmore

Situated on Loch Tay, it’s a true Scottish gem and one we’ll always return to.

This was our second stay but our fourth visit to Taymouth and the village of Kenmore. There’s so much to see and do in the area so you won’t be stuck whatever the weather brings.

Last year we visited in November, we stayed in Ben Nevis which is a great two bed apartment with a front facing balcony, open plan living/kitchen with one double bedroom downstairs and a twin upstairs. It’s great for small families or friends, with a private hot tub you can enjoy some time relaxing in the enclosed area or head to to Hot Box for the best views I’ve ever seen.

Scotland never fails to amaze me, even when the weather is unreliable the views are always spot on!

This trip, we stayed in Alafia 9 Lawers View which is an upside down townhouse.

It was absolutely perfect for us with the kids. There’s a large terrace with hot tub and dining area on the ground floor which is completely private. Both bedrooms are on this floor, with sliding doors to access the terrace. You’ll find a large utility room/toilet downstairs connected to the cloakroom as you first walk in. This is great for cleaning up after a nice walk or doing some water sports on the loch or, if you wish to do some washing, you can. Upstairs you’ll find the open plan living/kitchen area with high ceilings, a small side balcony and incredible views!

You really do have something beautiful out each window.

The weather wasn’t really the best but that didn’t stop us. What is it they say?

“There’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad outfits”

We enjoyed the hot tub in the rain, sat and watched the cows with their calves, enjoyed buffet style breakfasts, lunch and dinners while grabbing all the family time.

Saturday night we were gifted a meal at the Three Lemons, Aberfeldy which is an old printing press. We can’t recommend it enough if you’re visiting it’s truly a must. The staff, interior and most importantly the food is just amazing.

We had a lovely night out, even if Chris didn’t read the menu properly and noticed his steak came with Garlic butter. Compliments to the chef for remaking him another one. He’s a plain Jane but your steaks were both cooked to perfection!

When we got back I headed off down to the Hot Box, got cosy in the sauna, embraced the cold bucket and warmed up by the fire pit while soaking up the views of the loch. Truly magical watching the sunset completely on my own.

Amazing things happen when you fully switch off and embrace what’s around you, try it, you’ll love it.

Exciting things are coming for Taymouth Marina. In a number of weeks they’ll have brand new steam rooms and a relaxation area. I’m really excited to come back and try this out. What a fantastic addition to the Hot Box this will be and will definitely give anyone that full wellness experience you dream of.

Massive well done and Thank You to Vicki & Angus for having us and always providing us with great ideas on what to do. 10/10 for customer service, we always feel like we’re at home when we visit and I’d say that’s pretty special.
