It’s the month of “LOVE” the DAY for telling someone how much you care for them, how much you LOVE them and the TIME for spending money on the people you hold as your valentine.
What is a valentine?
According to the dictionary A sentimental or humorous greeting card sent to a sweetheart, friend, or family member, for example, on Saint Valentine's Day.
b. A gift sent as a token of love to one's sweetheart on Saint Valentine's Day.
2. A person singled out especially as one's sweetheart.
We all have someone we may love, cherish, or perhaps have a liking for.
For me there is Chris, he’s my best friend, father to our beautiful daughter Cailyn and the royal pain in my side but the one I have constant support from and love no matter what.
We don’t get date nights, we don’t have people to just pop round so when it comes to Valentine’s Day we have a standing joke with our family that we do have that night for a break...
This year, we’ve had some ups and downs with date night plans so for the first time since last Valentine’s we’ve taken time for us one night a week to enjoy some of our favourite things. You see it doesn’t always have to be about going out and spending lots of money, it could be ordering your favourite take away and putting a film on while actually sitting on the same sofa, not separated or on your phones.
It could be a share bag of chocolate or pop corn, actually sharing, listening and talking to eachother, it could be running a bath for your loved one with tea lights everywhere and their favourite drink, chilled, waiting for them to enjoy. What about a cosy night in bed, so when the kids go to sleep, instead of just sitting there, again probably separate, head to bed and cuddle up, have some alone time and get to know eachother again.
It’s so easy to forget!
Make it fun, do it with passion, make it all about you and enjoy eachother every moment you can, not just for one day.
I’d like to share with you what we’ve been doing. We started making TIME for one another by sharing firstly our passion for chocolate, brownies to be precise but not just any brownies, Norah’s Brownies .
*Norah’s Brownies are gluten, dairy & refined sugar free*
I ordered a box for us to “share” for our engagement however it was a tough day in the old motherhood game (no it wasn’t I was just being greedy) so myself and Cailyn got comfy and ate them, I didn’t even feel guilty. I showed Chris the Valentine’s Cherry Brownies and decided we’d get some to “actually” share. Which we did, watching First Dates - Hotel, cuddled up we shared the box, laughed, spoke and enjoyed eachother.
This was the first time we had a fun, family night laughing and feeling humble in a while, it’s easy to just get lost in the day to day of work/home life while forgetting about our loved ones.
Do you remember why you fell in love?
How it made you feel?
Let’s make small changes to bring that back if you don’t!
Secondly we decided to have a cosy night in, closed the curtains, put the candles on and made a nice dinner while wrapping up in some favourite comfy clothes. We watched a film we liked back when we were dating. I surprised Chris with these beauties to show off my soft side....
Let’s just take a moment to appreciate how cute these socks are and yes you can get them personalised just like mine. They’re super cosy and soft not to mention romantic. This will be our first valentines as an engaged couple. So sweet!
We love some soppy time together cuddled up with Cailyn or just ourselves, if she’s asleep. I think it’s so important to keep the romance going and appreciate all the small things as much as the big things, or in our case even more than the big things.
That cuddle, kiss or bum grab goes along way!
Now, we all know I love a good drink, I actually really enjoy tasting different Wines, Champagne, Prosecco and Cocktails due to my old job in Jersey, this was a daily part of life so this gifted treat was perfect and so sweet. We absolutely loved including I Heart Wines to our valentines nights. We don’t get out for drinks together in the city so it’s definitely nice to enjoy them in the house over dinner or film nights.
(or just most evenings for me)
How gorgeous are these gifts and definitely putting the fun back into our stay at home nights ... cheeky!
I often buy I Heart Prosecco, infact I drank 32 bottles last summer ... oops!
Whatever your doing this valentine’s Day
I hope you have a lovely day, it could be spent as a couple, with your pet, lover or even your friends. Either way enjoy it, spoil yourself and have some romantic fun, you could even just enjoy yourself, give yourself some love, pamper time and serious self care. Make it count. It doesn’t have to be about being in a relationship. Your good enough to love to!
