Snow & Smiles at Mcdonald Aviemore

January 2, 2018

We arrived at the Mcdonald Aviemore Resort on the 27th December for 3 nights.

I had booked this as a Christmas treat for us to just get away and enjoy some family time, with the hope of getting Cailyn and Daddy in some snow. The snow wasn't quite enough for Chris to go boarding however we did get enough for cailyn to explore in.

She learned how to walk properly in her boots and figure out the snowsuit as well as working out what the White, cold fluffy stuff was. So cute!

There's a lot to keep families entertained here, to be honest it's really quite impressive. From a 3D 4K cinema, 18 hole golf course, kids play area, In door soft play & swimming pool, gym, spa, shopping and the great selection of bars, cafe's and restaurants the only thing you need to decide is what one your going to choose.

We met some amazing staff while we were there, it truly was a great trip and one we will definitely do again.

The lovely gentleman who was running the Spey Burger restaurant / sport's bar was just great. He was really good with Cailyn. We would always pop in after dinner to grab some drinks and a chat before heading to our room. He made a point of taking the time to speak and interact with Cailyn which as a previous Frint Office Manager , I loved this. It's so great to see staff actually building a repor with guests and having good quality customer service. It's what you remember and that's when guests return. There was a lovely girl in the Laggan Whisky bar and a fantastic team in the Aspects restaurant that we tipped also for being amazing with us and Cailyn. Genuinely wonderful staff.

We had a family room which was massive for us. Small bathroom but it worked well for the length of the trip. If you had a bigger family I'd ask for a room with a larger area or a joining room as it may become cramped. The beds where comfortable and the house keeping was great. No complaints apart from there being only sparkling water available for the rooms. Which was nice for me but Chris hated it. There is ample parking all over the resort and lots to do in Aviemore it's self.

We booked in at the Reindeer Centre for paddock viewing, which was great with all the snow and the cute set up. Job well done to the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre for the effort of making the area a child's Christmas dream. There's an Elf hut, Santa's grotto, and lots of other cute corners for the kids to enjoy some activities. If you're lucky the Reindeer will come up close enough for you to touch. They're gentle so no need to worry, however still be careful. The centre is about 10 minutes drive from the hotel, right near the beautiful Loch Morlich & Woodland walks. Great all year round!

I must say we had the best 3 nights at the resort so a massive thank you to everyone and a serious shout out to the kitchens for breakfast at the Aviemore Hotel, Giovanni's Italian, Laggan Whisky Bar & Aspects Restaurant. The food was Incredible! My father and step father are previous chefs so good food is something I love.

Mcdonald hotels should be very proud of the whole resort as it's just beautiful!
