Our Christmas Plans 2017

November 29, 2017

I don’t know about you but I’m definitely in the festive mood and ready for all the decorations and vintage Christmas music - all the old classics please!

This year we decided on having a winter holiday instead of buying presents for eachother. Now obviously Cailyn is getting spoilt but me and chris have always spent far to much on birthdays and Christmas.

Since we booked our 3 night break to Macdonald Aviemore  we have become so exited to see Cailyn play in the snow.

So let’s hope it stays as right now, it’s so beautiful. This photo was posted days ago.

We arrive at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort  on the 27th December and leave on the 30th. Just the perfect amount of time for Chris to go snowboarding while myself and Cailyn can enjoy some of the on site activity. Which there’s definitely enough of. With a beautiful Spa, Sauna, Swimming Pool, Spey Valley Shopping on site, Cinema and Kids Play I’m sure we will be very happy with our much deserved winter break. There is numerous bars and restaurants so I’m looking forward to enjoying some beautiful food and wine.

This is The Macdonald Aviemore’s Christmas Tree this year .... how magical!

For Christmas Eve this year we are driving down to Lochmaben to visit my Papa and Dad. We will be doing small gifts and lots and lots of food! My dad was a chef so he doesn’t really know how to cook small and everything is from scratch. So you can imagine - full bellies for Christmas Day!

When we get home we will be putting Cailyn to bed and setting up the presents under the tree for her to see when she wakes.

On Christmas Day, I will be cooking the dinner (My First one - EVER) for myself, Chris, Mum and step Dad, Cailyn will have a small plate of what I cook as she eats proper foods and Taz (mums dog) will even have his dinner too.

This is going to be a different experience as the flat isn’t the big beautiful house that we are yet to buy, It’s a new build open plan so it will be a full on family food fest! However my step dad is also a previous chef - Good job I know how to cook!

We will do presents when they arrive and then start the festive drinking and eating.

As my grandad would say “stick in till you stick out” and so we will!

Boxing Day - Chris’s mum and dad will arrive to have their Christmas with us.

So it’s buffet style, all day food and lots of drinks. Again, we will open presents when they arrive for Cailyn and have some family time.

I am planning on packing all our things on Boxing Day as we leave for Aviemore the next day. That will be new for me, However I may end up packing on the 23rd, just incase, I can’t stand last minute packing it gives me the fear....... how can you do it?

So whatever your plans are let me know.

I really do love reading what everyone does, traditions? message me and tell me as we are yet to set our own for Cailyn. We grew up with the Christmas Eve presents - you got to open one of your gifts chosen by someone. Which was lovely. Growing up on the farm and in town mum always did things like they where done on the farm when she grew up. So it was nice to carry that on. I always remember this one Christmas at Huntrods Farm in Allendale, where we grew up. We each had our massive area in the living room filled with presents surrounded by “Santa’s Boot” marks and visible evidence that Rudolf did indeed take the Carrot and Santa definitely did drink his Milk. It was Magical.

I still to this day remember that exciting feeling of Santa’s been. It’s just amazing and that is what I want for Cailyn. If I can do the job half aswell as my mum did at Christmas with us 3 then I’ll be one happy mummy.

Merry Christmas for 2017
